I’m alive!

So my sister just called me and asked if I was OK, noting that I hadn’t updated my blog in three weeks.   Color me relieved that I’ve never talked about sex on this thing!

Anyhow, I’m alive!  I’ve been sidetracked a bit lately, but I’m regaining my focus by sheer force of will.  I’ve got some new songs that hopefully will get YouTube’d soon, and have started taping my gigs to see if I can’t assemble a new live collection.    I’ll have something new in the blog section soon!

Put another dollar in the jukebox, baby!

I don’t care what you say, internet jukeboxes effin’ rock! Through the advent of this technology, I’ve been able to show my drinking buddies all of my favorites that you don’t see or hear every day — it’s so much easier to just play Jellyfish or Shudder to Think than it is to try to make people appreciate what Zappa referred to as “dancing about architecture.”

And now, you can stop dancing about yours truly, and start dancing TO me!

If your favorite bar (or, really, any bar you’re in) has a Rowe or AMI jukebox, you can access all the tracks from Boy Meets Girl as downloadable content.

if you know the owner of these fine establishments, you can also urge them to purchase the album for their regular lineup, saving you money on every play!

One such place, Dee’s Cafe on the historic South Side of Pittsburgh, has already done this, prompting many plays, if the explosion of excite texts from Pittsburgh is any measure! Thanks, Bill!

Tube me!

In keeping with modern times, I’m going to start posting YouTube videos of my newest songs. At first, these are going to be rudimentary (using only my webcam’s internal mic), but with luck I’ll see enough interest to justify setting up something more intricate.

For now, though, check out “Hey Hey Hey!” My username on YouTube is strumcrystrum, an old inside joke among the Muppets and I.

Does anyone still read this thing?

I just realized it’s been forever since I updated this page — you guys must think New York swallowed me whole!

 I’ve been very busy, though, so don’t you fret.  Gigs have been crazy all through June, complete with me landing my first steady Sunday gig, every week at the Gael Pub from 7 to 10, on 83rd and 3rd, on the Big Island.  Thanks to Dan Donnelly for the hand-off, and for lending me his PA while he’s off enjoying his honeymoon with Tania.  If you’ve met them, you know they’re awesome.

 I’m dapping Pittsburgh at the end of the month — coming in Thursday morning, playing the Backstage Bar from 5 to 7:30, probably hanging out somewhere that night, then doing an in-store at Borders in East Liberty Friday at 8:00 before hopping in a car headed for Jersey.  I don’t yet have a July or August visit planned — hopefully the two gigs will inspire me to book a few more trips!
